Kobe's North Aoki to Receive 573‑Unit Public Housing Project by 2032
A public‑private partnership redevelopment is under way in Kobe City’s Higashinada Ward, north Aoki 1‑chome. The project will replace existing county‑owned housing with a new reinforced‑concrete complex containing 573 residential units across 11 stories. So far, construction of the first 285 units has begun, with work slated to start on 1 February 2026 and finish by 30 September 2034 for the full development. The site covers 16,548.65 m², with a building floor area of 8,010.64 m², and will include community facilities, parking, bicycle storage and waste‑disposal spaces.
The redevelopment is part of the prefectural “Aoki High‑rise Reinforced Concrete Housing PFI Reconstruction Project,” aiming to provide modern public housing and improve local amenities. Completion of the entire complex is expected by September 2034, with the initial phase of 285 units scheduled for completion in May 2029.
