Koblenz court upholds driver's license revocation for car posing

The Administrative Court of Koblenz has ruled that repeated 'car posing' can justify the revocation of a driver's license, even if the driver has a low number of penalty points.

A driver, who had only one point on his record, had his license revoked after failing to undergo a mandatory medical-psychological assessment (MPU). Between December 2024 and September 2025, the individual was cited five times for various offenses, including accelerating rental cars aggressively in city centers to create noise, speeding by 26 km/h in a 30 km/h zone, and playing excessively loud music.

The court rejected the driver's emergency application against the immediate enforcement of the revocation. Judges determined that the driver's repeated behavior demonstrated a need for attention that superseded traffic regulations and the interests of other road users, indicating a character deficit and a lack of consideration. While the German penalty point system typically requires eight points for revocation, the court affirmed that authorities may mandate an MPU in exceptional cases involving such behavioral patterns.
