Koblenz police seek accident site after intoxicated driver intercepted
Police in Koblenz are searching for the location of a suspected hit-and-run accident involving a 64-year-old driver. On Saturday, August 15, 2026, around 6:00 PM, a witness reported a white Citroen with Oldenburg license plates driving erratically in a zigzag pattern on the B9 highway toward Boppard.
A patrol from the Koblenz 1 Police Inspection intercepted the vehicle near the Koblenz main station. Testing revealed the driver was heavily intoxicated, with a breathalyzer result showing nearly 4 per mille. Authorities have requested a blood sample, prohibited the driver from continuing the journey, and applied for the temporary revocation of his driver's license.
The vehicle sustained fresh damage to its front bumper, likely caused by a collision with a guardrail or a wall. Because the exact site of the collision remains unknown, police are requesting that anyone with information regarding the accident or the driver's behavior contact the Koblenz 1 Police Inspection.
