Kocaeli International Book Fair hosts experts on family and relationships

The 16th International Kocaeli Book Fair continues to host various authors and academics for discussions on social and psychological topics.

During the event, Associate Professor Saniye Bencik Kangal discussed child development, emphasizing that shouting is ineffective for teaching correct behavior and highlighting the importance of understanding physiological changes, such as sleep patterns, during adolescence. Educator Alişan Kapaklıkaya addressed family dynamics in his talk ‘The Last Fortress: Family,’ urging parents to focus on their own self-improvement and communication styles to better support their children.

In a session titled ‘Suspended Relationships,’ author Tuna Tüner examined modern relationship challenges, noting that issues of pride, comparison, and lack of honesty often undermine connections. Additionally, Professor Halis Aydemir explored the concept of ‘ünsiyet’ (intimacy/connection), discussing the human need for bonding with others and the spiritual dimension of seeking meaning through a relationship with the divine.
