Kocaeli Book Fair hosts talks on war impacts and girl child development

At the 16th International Kocaeli Book Fair, Bosnian journalist and author Amina Seçeroviç Kaşlı shared her experiences of the Bosnian War from a child's perspective. During her talk, titled ‘A View from Sarajevo to Gaza’, Kaşlı described the profound impact of conflict on children, recounting how she had to learn to navigate sniper fire and the loss of her brother at a young age. She also called for increased sensitivity and boycotts regarding the situation in Gaza.

In a separate session held in observance of International Day of the Girl Child, psychologist Serdar Vatansever discussed the importance of family support in raising confident girls. During his presentation, ‘He Who Does Not Praise His Daughter Will Regret It’, Vatansever emphasized that investing in girls is an investment in the future of society. He highlighted the critical role of father-daughter relationships and the influence of male family members in shaping a child's self-perception and future social connections.
