Kocaeli Courier Murder Trial Starts in İzmit Court

A trial began in Kocaeli's 3rd Heavy Penal Court over the fatal stabbing of courier Ferhat Ozan Yıldırım. The incident occurred on 20 January in a closed parking lot in İzmit's Körfez neighbourhood after an argument with co‑worker Arda K. The suspect took a knife from his motorcycle basket and wounded Yıldırım, who later died at Kocaeli State Hospital.

Arda K. was arrested, charged with intentional homicide and remanded in custody. In court he claimed there was no pre‑existing hostility, saying he acted in the heat of the dispute and expressed remorse, stating, “Keşke ben ölseydim” (“I wish I were dead”). The hearing included the victim’s family and legal representatives, and the judge ordered the continuation of his pre‑trial detention.
