Turkish courts uphold divorce ruling for emotional abuse and convict fraudsters over fake spirit claims

The court declared his neglect a heavy‑fault ground for divorce and upheld related alimony and compensation claims.

In Kocaeli, two men were convicted for defrauding a senior citizen by claiming that demons demanded blood and that special amulets required expensive saffron ink. They extracted ₺130,000 from the victim and were sentenced to five years and four months and four years and six months, respectively, for abusing religious belief and related offenses.
