Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality begins road infrastructure projects

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality has launched the second stage of the İlimtepe Connection Road project to improve transportation between Körfez and the İlimtepe neighborhood. The project involves upgrading a 4.7-kilometer stretch from a 2x1 road to a 2x2 divided highway, including 2 kilometers of connection roads. Construction includes significant excavation, filling, and the installation of hydraulic channels, rainwater lines, and 170 lighting poles.

In Gebze, the municipality is also modernizing the transportation network through intersection and road adjustments. Work is underway at the intersection of Ahmet Penbegüllü Boulevard, Anibal Avenue, and 1319 Street to regulate traffic flow and enhance safety. This project involves approximately 1 kilometer of road and sidewalk improvements, utilizing 5,000 tons of asphalt and 3,000 tons of plant mix base material. The upgrades aim to reduce traffic density and improve urban aesthetics, with completion expected during the upcoming summer period.
