Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality completes Gebze road renovation

The Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality has completed renovation works on Şehit Numan Dede Avenue, a critical transportation route in the Gebze city center. The project, costing approximately 25 million TL, involved the comprehensive renewal of an 800-meter stretch of the avenue.

Work conducted by the Road and Maintenance Department included both infrastructure and superstructure improvements. To prevent water accumulation during rainfall, a new rainwater line was installed. The superstructure phase involved removing old asphalt through 3,500 cubic meters of trimmer excavation and 3,700 cubic meters of cutting excavation, followed by the application of 2,200 tons of binder and 1,500 tons of wearing course asphalt.

The renovated avenue, which runs from the northern end of Mehmet Akif Ersoy Avenue in the Osman Yılmaz neighborhood to the Gebze City Square, is expected to reduce traffic congestion during peak hours. The improvements aim to provide safer and more comfortable transit for both drivers and pedestrians, connecting key locations such as the city square, the bazaar, and the historic Çoban Mustafa Paşa Mosque.
