Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality expands Locomotive Children's Village project

The Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality is expanding its Locomotive Children's Village project by adding two new locations in the Başiskele and Gölcük districts. The project, managed by the Directorate of Child Services under the Department of Women and Family Services, aims to support the social and individual development of children aged 3 to 6 through play and discovery-based learning.

The new facility in Başiskele will be located at the Seymen Millet Bahçesi and will consist of eight thematic wagons. These wagons will offer various workshops ranging from art and science to music, architecture, and environmental awareness. Similarly, the sixth stop in Gölcük will also feature eight educational wagons designed to help children discover their talents through diverse workshops.

Construction is currently underway at both sites, with both the Başiskele and Gölcük Locomotive Children's Villages scheduled to open to the public in 2027. The project joins existing or developing locations in Doğu Kışla, Vinsan, Gebze, and Karamürsel.
