Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality invests 2.83 billion TL in infrastructure

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality has launched significant infrastructure and production initiatives to improve regional transportation. The municipality has signed contracts totaling approximately 2.83 billion TL for road construction, intersection adjustments, and maintenance across the Gebze, Darıca, Çayırova, and Dilovası districts.

The project includes the laying of roughly 399,000 tons of asphalt and the installation of extensive paving stones. Specific allocations include 617.5 million TL for intersection improvements and 676 million TL for maintenance and repair works, which are scheduled to span 720 days.

To support these efforts, the municipality is utilizing its own stone quarry and crushing-screening facility in Körfez Kıyırlı. Since 2023, this facility has produced 900,000 tons of aggregate and PMT, contributing 320 million TL to the public budget by producing materials at 50% lower cost than market prices. The facility aims to reach a production target of 1 million tons by the end of the year.
