Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality launches community flower project in Gebze

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality has launched the ‘Komşumla Çiçek Açıyorum Projesi’ (I am Blooming with My Neighbor Project) in Gebze to enhance urban aesthetics and strengthen community ties.

As part of the initiative on Şehit Numan Dede Street, a 56-person team comprising members from the Department of Women and Family Services and the Department of Parks and Gardens visited 128 apartments. During these visits, approximately 800 flower pots were mounted on balconies suitable for planting. Residents were provided with geraniums and received guidance on how to care for and grow the flowers.

The project aims to create a shared experience among neighbors through the collective care of these plants, eventually creating a colorful and aesthetic visual across the entire street.
