Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality launches security training for seniors

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality is conducting security awareness training for citizens aged 65 and older to protect them from risks in both digital and daily life. As part of this initiative, teams from the Kocaeli Police Department Community Supported Policing Branch provided information to members of the Gölcük Saygınlar Club regarding theft, fraud, and general security.

The training emphasized that modern security extends beyond physical home safety to include digital protection. Participants were briefed on evolving fraud methods, such as suspicious phone calls from individuals posing as police or prosecutors, fake internet links, and attempts to steal personal information.

Instructors advised citizens never to share bank details, identity information, or passwords, and warned against clicking on unknown links. The program highlighted the importance of contacting law enforcement immediately if suspicious activity is encountered.
