Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality launches concrete production plant
Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality has broken ground on the Solaklar Concrete Plant to increase self-sufficiency in its infrastructure and superstructure projects. The facility is designed to produce 120 cubic meters of concrete per hour, with the capacity to meet daily demands of up to 1,000 cubic meters. The municipality aims to produce 60,000 cubic meters of concrete by 2027.
The production process will be fully integrated and managed by the municipality, starting from raw material extraction at the Kıyırlı Quarry and Crushing/Screening Facilities to quality control in municipal laboratories and final delivery via municipal mixers. This vertical integration aims to reduce external dependency, optimize resource management, and accelerate project timelines.
In addition to the new concrete plant, the municipality is continuing extensive road and intersection renewal works in the Gölcük Çiftlik neighborhood. These works include the renovation of the Ergenekon Avenue and Koca Yusuf Avenue intersection to improve traffic flow, with physical progress reported at approximately 70 percent.
