Kocaeli municipalities complete road renovation and mosque construction
Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality has completed a major infrastructure renovation of the Gazanfer Bilge Boulevard, also known as Santral Rampası, in İzmit. The project, which addressed the road's high incline and heavy traffic load, was carried out in two stages over 20 days and concluded on August 10. The work involved 3,000 cubic meters of excavation and the application of 5,000 tons of binder asphalt to ensure long-term durability.
In a separate local development, the Gaza Martyrs Mosque in the Vezirçiftliği neighborhood of Başiskele is nearing completion. The project is a collaborative effort between the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, Başiskele Municipality, and local donors. Mayors Tahir Büyükakın and Yasin Özlü recently inspected the site, noting that the minaret is finished and interior calligraphy work is in its final stages. The mosque project was initiated following the events in Gaza on October 7.
