Kocaeli residents report ongoing illegal waste dumping in İzmit

Residents and local business owners in the İzmit district of Kocaeli are reporting ongoing issues with illegal waste disposal. In the Mehmet Ali Paşa neighborhood on Bağdat Avenue, used household items and various debris are being left around trash containers, overflowing onto sidewalks and obstructing pedestrian access.

Local shopkeeper Musa Aslanbaba stated that the problem has persisted for approximately two years. He noted that while municipal teams periodically clean the area, the waste is frequently replaced shortly after. The accumulation of debris has reportedly caused property damage, including a broken vehicle windshield, and has led to complaints regarding environmental pollution and street aesthetics.
