Turkey implements regional water management and protection measures

Various regional water management and environmental protection initiatives are underway across Turkey. In Kocaeli, the municipality reported treating over 177 million cubic meters of wastewater in 2025, with ongoing investments in the Körfez and Yeniköy facilities to increase advanced biological treatment capacity to 100 percent.

In Antalya's Kaş district, the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality's ASAT department was fined 839,000 lira after a wastewater leak from a pumping station was discovered discharging into the sea at Çukurbağ Peninsula. The incident, caused by a power outage, was documented by citizens and led to immediate administrative penalties.

Infrastructure developments continue in other regions: Diyarbakır is constructing a second drinking water treatment plant to double its supply capacity to 536,000 cubic meters daily. In Konya, projects are being planned to protect Lake Beyşehir through new wastewater treatment plants. Meanwhile, in Istanbul, the İSKİ has removed 59 illegal structures from the Ömerli Basin to safeguard critical drinking water sources.

In Ankara, dam occupancy levels were reported at 42.36 percent, with the city receiving approximately 1.6 million cubic meters of water daily through various treatment facilities.
