Kocaelispor's Hrvoje Smolcic deal collapses as Trabzonspor completes Sidny Cabral signing

Turkish Süper Lig club Kocaelispor failed to reach an agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt over defender Hrvoje Smolcic. The club asked to lower the €2.5 million release clause to €1.3 million and later indicated it would not exceed €1 million, prompting the 25‑year‑old to terminate talks and leave. Smolcic had featured in 29 matches for Kocaelispor, scoring once and providing an assist.

Meanwhile, fellow Turkish side Trabzonspor officially announced the permanent transfer of 22‑year‑old Sidny Lopes Cabral from Benfica. The deal is valued at €7 million, payable in three installments, and includes a 20 % sell‑on clause for Benfica. Cabral signed a five‑year contract with a guaranteed €1.3 million salary per season and a 5 % agency fee.
