Kocasinan Municipality opens cat town in Kayseri

Kocasinan Municipality has launched the 'Küçük Dostlar Kedi Kasabası' (Little Friends Cat Town) in Kayseri, a unique project designed to promote animal welfare and community engagement. Located within a 10,000 square meter living area in the Yakut neighborhood, the facility hosts 19 different breeds of cats.

The center features a 500 square meter area managed by the Kocasinan Municipality Veterinary Directorate, providing 24/7 care, including medical treatment, nutrition, and housing under the supervision of expert veterinarians. The site is equipped with various amenities such as bungalow houses, cat bridges, climbing courses, tunnels, and sterile sand pools.

Mayor Ahmet Çolakbayrakdar emphasized that the project serves both educational and therapeutic purposes. He noted that the space helps children build empathy and connection with animals, while also providing an environment where individuals with animal phobias can work to overcome their fears. The municipality aims to set an example in compassionate urban living through this initiative.
