Koch explores sale of Edged data center developer for over $15 billion
Koch Inc. is exploring the sale of its data center developer, Edged, following multiple bids that could value the company at over $15 billion. Bain Capital is reportedly among the interested parties in talks to acquire the firm.
Co-founded by Koch Real Estate Investments and entrepreneur Jakob Carnemark, Edged specializes in high-efficiency, sustainable infrastructure designed for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing workloads. The company distinguishes itself through waterless cooling technology and a power usage effectiveness (PUE) rating of approximately 1.15, which is significantly more efficient than the industry average.
Edged maintains a U.S. platform with more than 388 megawatts of capacity across several locations, including Atlanta, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Des Moines, Kansas City, and Phoenix. The Atlanta campus is the company’s largest, providing 169 MW of capacity. Koch is working with Goldman Sachs and Newmark to evaluate the interest. No final agreement or purchase price has been confirmed.
