Kochi Prefecture antenna shop restaurant privatized in Tokyo
The restaurant located on the second floor of the ‘Marugoto Kochi’ antenna shop in Chuo, Tokyo, will undergo a transition to private management. Reopening on October 31 under the new name ‘Kochi no Gochisou-dokoro Okaku’, the establishment will be operated by Yoriki Suisan, a Kochi Prefecture-based wholesaler from Sukumo City.
Previously operated for 16 years by the Kochi Prefecture Local Products Marketing Corporation, the restaurant's new management aims to leverage private-sector innovation to promote Kochi’s agriculture, fisheries, and tourism. Head Chef Naoki Shimoda, who moved from Sukumo to Tokyo to lead the kitchen, expressed a strong commitment to showcasing the high quality of Kochi’s seafood to a national and international audience.
An introductory viewing held on October 29 featured discussions on Kochi’s unique ‘okyaku’ banquet culture, with the goal of using the restaurant as a gateway to encourage tourism to the Kochi region.
