Kościerzyna to use photo traps to penalize illegal waste dumping

The municipality of Kościerzyna has purchased photo traps to combat the illegal dumping of large waste items, such as furniture and electronics, near trash enclosures. Local authorities aim to identify individuals who bypass proper disposal procedures at designated collection points, as these actions lead to increased waste disposal costs for all residents.

Mayor Dawid Jareczek stated that the municipality intends to file notifications against those caught dumping waste to ensure fairness for residents who follow segregation rules. Offenders identified by the devices may face fines of up to 5,000 PLN. The photo traps are intended to serve both as a monitoring tool and a deterrent to encourage compliance with waste management regulations.
