Škoda introduces full-hybrid engines for Octavia model

Škoda has launched its first full-hybrid powertrain for the Octavia, utilizing a series-parallel hybrid system. The setup features a 1.5 TSI evo2 combustion engine paired with two electric motors: one acting as a generator and starter, and a more powerful motor that drives the front wheels and recovers energy during deceleration.

The system operates in three modes: electric, series hybrid, and parallel hybrid. In electric mode, the battery allows for approximately two kilometers of travel. The series hybrid mode is primarily used at speeds up to 60 km/h, while the parallel hybrid mode engages at higher, constant speeds. The system includes a 1.6 kWh battery with a state of charge maintained between 40% and 90%.

Two power variants are available: a 136 CV version, which utilizes a 130 CV combustion engine, and a 170 CV version, which utilizes a 150 CV combustion engine.
