Škoda Octavia marks 30 years with nearly 8 million units produced
Škoda Auto is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the modern Škoda Octavia, marking three decades since the first generation entered mass production on September 3, 1996. Since its relaunch, the model has become a central pillar for the manufacturer following its integration into the Volkswagen Group. Global production for the model has reached nearly 8 million units across four generations.
The Octavia nameplate has a long history, originally used for a model produced between 1959 and 1971. The modern era of the vehicle saw production expand significantly through facilities in Mladá Boleslav, Kvasiny, and Kostanay, Kazakhstan. Current fourth-generation models focus on digital technology, safety features, and expanded cargo space.
In specific markets like Taiwan, the Octavia Combi (station wagon) version has seen significant popularity, accounting for approximately 88% of registrations for the model as of August 2026. The lineup also includes performance-oriented RS models, which have accounted for about 40% of Octavia sales in Taiwan over the last three years.
