Tatra expands production in Slovakia as VW and Škoda launch new models

Tatra Defence Slovakia is expanding its production capabilities in Moldava nad Bodvou, Slovakia. The facility is set to produce over 5,200 vehicles, including a major contract for 4,000 Tatra T-810 M military trucks for a Southeast Asian customer valued at over $1 billion. This expansion is expected to create more than 300 new jobs.

In the consumer market, Volkswagen has introduced full hybrid technology to its Golf and T-Roc models in the Czech Republic. These new powertrains utilize a 1.5 TSI evo2 engine paired with electric motors and a 1.6 kWh battery, allowing for fuel-efficient driving without the need for external charging. Prices for the Golf Hybrid start at 827,000 CZK, while the T-Roc Hybrid starts at 980,000 CZK.

Meanwhile, Škoda Auto has unveiled a facelifted version of the Slavia sedan for the Indian market. The updated model features a more sporty design, improved lighting signatures, and new interior features such as massage functions for rear seats and AI-enhanced infotainment systems. The Slavia remains a key model for Škoda's growth strategy in India.
