Kodai Sano makes first start as PSV defeats Groningen 5-1

Kodai Sano made his first start for PSV Eindhoven in an Eredivisie match against FC Groningen on August 23. Playing in an anchor role, Sano completed the full match as PSV secured a 5-1 victory at the Philips Stadion.

Despite conceding an early goal in the 9th minute, PSV responded quickly with an own goal in the 11th minute. Ivan Perisic led the offensive charge, scoring twice, including a header following a set piece involving Sano. Ricardo Pepi added a third via a penalty, and Sergiño Dest contributed to the high-scoring win.

Sano was active in both phases of play, participating in short passing sequences to break down the defense and contributing to defensive duties by recovering second balls and covering the defensive line.
