Kodak Black's felony fleeing charge dismissed in Florida

A judge in Broward County, Florida, has dismissed a felony charge against rapper Kodak Black, alleging he fled from law enforcement during a traffic stop in Pompano Beach. The dismissal, granted with prejudice on September 8, means the case cannot be refiled.

Defense attorney Bradford Cohen argued that the charge lacked merit, stating that body camera footage showed the artist merely drove away at a normal speed after what appeared to be a concluded consensual encounter. Cohen noted that the officer never informed the rapper that he was being detained or was not free to leave. Prosecutors did not oppose the motion to dismiss.

While this legal victory resolves the fleeing charge, Kodak Black continues to face a separate drug trafficking case in Florida.
