Kodam XV/Pattimura river works suspended pending ministry permits

Construction projects conducted by Kodam XV/Pattimura in the Waitomu River area, located in front of the Kodam XV/Pattimura headquarters, have been suspended. The suspension is due to the lack of required permits from the Ministry of Public Works (PU).

Herry Pancara B, Head of Operations and Maintenance at the Maluku River Basin Organization (BWS), stated that water resource utilization permits are no longer issued directly by the local BWS. Instead, applications must be processed through the Ministry of Public Works via the Water Resources Management Information System (SIP SDA) application.

Kodam XV/Pattimura reportedly submitted an application to BWS Maluku on August 14, 2026. Following this, BWS Maluku issued a response on August 26, explaining that the use of the Waitomu River space must follow the official approval mechanism through the central ministry in Jakarta. BWS Maluku's role is limited to providing technical explanations, facilitating the process, and offering technical advice as required by the central authority.
