Kodansha and Don Quijote launch permanent “Magazine Shop” in Tokyo and Osaka stores
Kodansha’s weekly manga magazine Shonen Magazine is partnering with discount retailer Don Quijote to open a permanent “Magazine Shop” inside three flagship stores – Shibuya, Ikebukuro East and Shinsekai – beginning 25 July 2026. The shop will be the brand’s first offline store and Don Quijote’s first dedicated collaboration with a boys‑manga publisher, selling official original‑work merchandise rather than the usual anime‑related items.
Visitors who spend ¥2,200 or more on merchandise will receive a special collage‑art postcard. The shop’s decor features large wall‑size art from popular series such as *Attack on Titan*, *Blue Lock* and *Fairy Tail*, and includes a new illustration by Hiro Masashiro. The collaboration is aimed at both domestic fans and inbound tourists, leveraging Don Quijote’s late‑night opening hours to provide a “night‑market” experience for overseas visitors.
Kodansha and Don Quijote view the permanent shop as a new touch‑point for manga fans, with plans to eventually expand the concept to other locations across Japan.
