Kodansha VR Lab films nominated for Kaohsiung Film Festival

Kodansha VR Lab has announced that two of its produced VR films, ‘RETSU (The Line)’ and ‘If You See a Cat’, have been double-nominated for the VR category at the Kaohsiung Film Festival in Taiwan.

‘RETSU (The Line)’, directed and written by Naho Uemura, is a VR animation based on the novel of the same name by Fuminori Nakamura. The approximately 30-minute immersive experience explores themes of social competition and human struggle through the metaphor of a mysterious, endless line. The production features a Japanese voice cast including Tetsuma Hirosue, Ryosuke Sugino, and Fumino Kimura.

‘If You See a Cat’, directed by Jun Wada, is a short animation that addresses challenges within the Japanese mental healthcare system based on interviews with industry professionals. Wada’s work has previously gained international recognition, including a nomination at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival.
