Koei Tecmo announces Apothecary Diaries video game

Koei Tecmo and TOHO have announced 'The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother', the first console game adaptation of the Japanese series. Developed by Gust, the title is slated for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

The game features an exclusive story and characters conceptualized by the series author, Hyuganatsu. Players take on the role of Maomao, an apothecary investigating the 'Five Mysteries' and 'Five Curses' that are causing chaos within the imperial capital and rear palace. The narrative involves a mysterious masked man claiming to be the imperial younger brother.

Gameplay mechanics are inspired by the 'Atelier' RPG series, incorporating an alchemy system where players collect herbs and ingredients to concoct medicines. The experience is divided into investigation and deduction phases, where players explore locations, interview witnesses, and organize evidence to solve conspiracies.
