Koenigsegg unveils CCGT1 hypercar inspired by GT1 racing prototype

Koenigsegg has unveiled the CCGT1, a modern, road-legal interpretation of its iconic 2007 CCGT racing prototype. Based on the CC850 model, the new hypercar is designed to honor the brand’s original ambition to compete in the GT1 class, a goal that was thwarted in the early 2000s due to changes in FIA GT1 regulations regarding production volumes.

The CCGT1 features a twin-turbo V8 engine capable of producing up to 1,600 hp when using E85 ethanol. While it retains the spirit of the original 1,000 kg prototype, the CCGT1 is a fully homologated vehicle approved for public roads. The manufacturer noted that nearly every body panel has been modified from the CC850, except for the doors and removable floor.

The original CCGT prototype, which featured a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8, has undergone a complete renovation by the Koenigsegg Legend division. This allows the spirit of the project to finally compete in historical GT1 racing categories, fulfilling a long-standing vision of the company's founder, Christian von Koenigsegg.
