Koffi Olomidé headlines Fred Machoka’s 50-year anniversary concert in Nairobi

Congolese Rhumba legend Koffi Olomidé headlined the ‘Machoka At 50’ Grand Concert at Nairobi’s Ulinzi Sports Complex on October 10, 2026. The event celebrated veteran broadcaster Fred Obachi Machoka’s 50-year career in the Kenyan media industry.

The concert featured a lineup of continental musical stars, including Mbilia Bel, Sam Fan Thomas, Les Wanyika, and Them Mushrooms. Olomidé performed hits such as ‘Effrakata’ alongside his orchestra, Quartier Latin International.

During the event, a moment occurred when Olomidé declined an invitation from Machoka to join him on stage for a cake-cutting ceremony, subsequently leaving the stage. While social media reactions suggested potential conflict or anger, witnesses on the scene described the departure as a moment of exhaustion rather than a clash.
