Kofola acquires majority stake in CØKAFE coffee chain
The beverage group Kofola has acquired a 52% majority stake in the Ostrava-based coffee chain CØKAFE. The transaction aims to complete Kofola’s vertical integration of the coffee supply chain, moving from raw material production to the final consumer experience.
Kofola’s coffee strategy began with investments in Latin American plantations, including a family farm in Boquete, Panama, near Mount Barú. Following the establishment of its own roasting facility in Strážnice, Czech Republic, the acquisition of CØKAFE serves as the final link in its coffee value chain.
Richard Mauler, the founder of CØKAFE, will remain a co-owner and key driver of the brand’s future direction. Mauler stated that he sought a partner rather than a buyer to ensure the brand could grow without losing its core identity. Jannis Samaras, CEO of Kofola, noted that controlling the entire process from the plantation to the cup allows the company to guarantee long-term value and quality.
