President Bola Tinubu Gains Governor Support Amid Security Initiatives

Senate President Godswill Akpabio told Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is intensifying efforts to end insecurity, citing the recent release of abducted schoolchildren in Oyo State. Supporters such as Khamis Musa Darazo urged political leaders to avoid politicising security, praising Defence Minister Christopher Gwabin Musa for recent gains against banditry and kidnapping.

Governors in the South‑East, led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, announced a unified endorsement of Tinubu’s re‑election bid in 2027, pointing to the establishment and funding of the South‑East Development Commission, rail rehabilitation and major road projects. In Kogi State, Governor Usman Ododo highlighted Tinubu’s directive to refuse negotiations with criminals and lauded federal infrastructure investments, including road‑drainage networks funded through the World Bank‑backed ACReSAL project. President Tinubu also approved the creation of a new army battalion in Kwara State and the expansion of the Nigerian Army from eight to twelve divisions to strengthen nationwide security.
