Kogi State approves N646.8m for student bursaries and expands medical facilities

The Kogi State Government has announced the disbursement of N646.8 million in bursary awards to 20,157 students across various tertiary institutions. Governor Usman Ododo has increased the allowance for undergraduate students from N12,000 to N30,000, while medical students will receive an increase from N30,000 to N75,000.

In a related effort to support medical education, state officials inspected new facilities at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Teaching Hospital in Okene. The inspection included medical students’ hostels and doctors’ quarters, which feature solar power and internet connectivity to support clinical training and research. Officials noted that these developments represent a continuation of infrastructure projects initiated by previous administrations to strengthen healthcare delivery and academic environments.
