Kogi State Governor Ododo unveils new development vision

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has unveiled a new vision for the state's development during a broadcast marking the 35th anniversary of Kogi State's creation. A central component of this vision is the proposed establishment of the Kogi Shared Prosperity and Transformation Council. This council is intended to support the implementation of the Kogi State Development Plan 2024–2056 by bringing together political leaders, academics, professionals, and entrepreneurs to foster unity and consensus across ethnic and political lines.

Governor Ododo emphasized that social unity is an economic necessity to attract investment. He highlighted several major ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Kogi International Airport at Zariagi, the development of the Kogi-Hunan Special Economic Zone in Ajaokuta, and the reconstruction of strategic roads throughout the state. These initiatives aim to improve connectivity, support manufacturing and mineral processing, and create jobs.

In recent interactions with state appointees, the Governor has been noted for a leadership style characterized by accessibility and engagement, focusing on areas such as infrastructure, workers' welfare, education, healthcare, and security.
