Kogi State High Court Refutes False Claim It Deregistered Nigeria's NDC

The Kogi State High Court in Nigeria issued a statement denying any involvement in the registration or deregistration of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The court clarified that it has never heard or ruled on any case concerning the party, describing circulating social‑media posts as false and misleading. The statement highlighted that images of Chief Judge Josiah Majebi and former Governor Yahaya Bello were used to create a false impression that the alleged judgment originated from the court, and warned the public against spreading unverified information.

The clarification follows earlier rulings by the Federal High Court in Lokoja, which set aside a previous decision ordering the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC due to procedural defects. The Federal court reinstated the status quo pending a fresh hearing with all interested parties, including the Peace Movement Party, joined to the suit. The Kogi High Court’s response aims to protect judicial integrity and prevent erosion of public confidence.
