Kogi State Polytechnic suspends six lecturers over misconduct allegations
The management of Kogi State Polytechnic announced the suspension of six lecturers for unauthorised sale of handouts and textbooks and placed an additional lecturer on suspension for alleged sexual harassment. The Polytechnic’s spokesperson, Public Relations Officer John Amos Onimisi, said the actions were taken to enforce regulations after reports of sex‑for‑marks, cultism and other indiscipline on campus. Sources said female students have faced threats of failure or monetary demands of N70,000‑N80,000 for exam success, and that cult‑related activities have resurfaced. The suspensions came under the tenure of Rector Salihu Sanusi Avidime, amid broader concerns about safety and governance at the institution.
