Kogi State security forces raid forest hideouts
The Kogi State Police Command has launched intensified bush clearance operations to dislodge criminal elements from forest corridors. The operation, conducted on August 20, 2026, targeted strategic areas linking Kabba/Bunu, Obajana, and Lokoja.
Following directives from Commissioner of Police Naziru Kankarofi, a joint task force comprising police, military, local vigilantes, and other security auxiliaries moved through the Daji 2 Forest Zone. During the exercise, security personnel identified and cleared an abandoned settlement believed to have served as a staging area for criminal activities.
The team also navigated difficult terrain, including creeks and mountainous areas, to clear Amos Camp, another suspected hideout. While signs of recent movement suggested that some criminal elements vacated the area toward the Oyo Forest axis of Obajana ahead of the security advance, the command stated the operation has boosted the confidence of local residents and farmers, allowing many to return to their normal activities.
