Koh Dong-jin to host forum on nuclear energy policy for the AI era
South Korean lawmaker Koh Dong-jin will host a National Assembly policy forum on September 29 to discuss nuclear energy strategies in response to the rising power demands of the AI era. The discussion focuses on how to ensure a stable electricity supply for national strategic industries, such as generative AI and data centers, which are driving significant increases in energy consumption.
Key agenda items for the forum include expanding the continuous operation of existing nuclear plants, introducing new nuclear reactors, and the commercialization of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). Additionally, participants will address energy security through the diversification of long-term nuclear fuel supplies and enriched uranium supply chains.
The event will feature presentations and discussions from academic experts from Seoul National University and KAIST, as well as representatives from Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power and government officials responsible for nuclear research and development and energy policy.
