Koh Samui bar assault dispute settled through mediation

A Dutch man and a Thai woman have reached a settlement following an assault at Pookies Bar in Plai Laem, Koh Samui, on August 29. The incident, which was captured on CCTV, showed the man repeatedly striking the woman and raising a metal bar stool before bystanders intervened.

The woman sought medical treatment at Koh Samui Hospital for injuries to her face, including bruising to her left cheekbone, and subsequently reported the matter to the police.

Following police-led mediation, the two parties reconciled on August 31. The Dutch man admitted to his wrongdoing and issued an apology, which the woman accepted. A representative for the woman stated that the dispute has been resolved peacefully and dismissed earlier claims that the police had failed to make progress on the case.
