Kohat police complex suicide attack kills at least 16 FAST-MOVING

A suicide attack targeting a police complex in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has resulted in at least 16 deaths and dozens of injuries. The attack occurred during Friday prayers at a mosque located within the Old Police Lines facility.

According to police officials, an explosives-laden vehicle rammed the compound's gate, triggering a massive explosion that damaged the mosque and caused walls to collapse. Following the blast, armed militants entered the premises, leading to a gun battle with security forces. Authorities reported that approximately seven attackers, including a suicide bomber and a sniper, were killed during the subsequent operation.

The casualties include at least five police officers and 11 civilians. Dozens of others, with many in critical condition, were transported to the District Headquarters Hospital.

Ittehad al-Mujahideen Pakistan has claimed responsibility for the attack. Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have both condemned the incident, with President Zardari emphasizing the need to eliminate terrorist groups operating with foreign support.
