Kohei Horikoshi releases new horror manga one-shot

Manga creator Kohei Horikoshi, best known for the global hit series ‘My Hero Academia’, has returned to Weekly Shonen Jump with a new work. The release marks his first new project since the conclusion of ‘My Hero Academia’ in August 2024.

The new work is a 61-page horror one-shot titled ‘Quit Laughing, Shijima’ (Warawanaide yo Shijima-san). Described as a ‘boy-meets-girl horror’ story, the plot centers on a mysterious town where the residents appear to share an unusual fascination with a girl named Shijima, hiding a dark secret.

The one-shot was published in the combined issue 37+38 of Weekly Shonen Jump. Horikoshi has shared character art of Shijima to promote the release. The work is currently available for reading in English via Shueisha’s MANGA Plus platform.
