Kohima officials review immunization and TB control progress

Officials in Kohima held review meetings on September 9, 2026, to assess progress regarding immunization, child health, HIV/AIDS awareness, and tuberculosis (TB) control. Chaired by Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem, the District Task Force for Immunization (DTFI) and the District Level TB Mukt Bharat Committee evaluated various public health initiatives.

During the immunization review, officials highlighted the importance of school-based awareness campaigns and the role of teachers and Anganwadi workers in securing parental consent for vaccinations. Discussions also included potential collaboration with the National Cadet Corps (NCC) to support immunization activities during cadet camps. Additionally, the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) program was reviewed, with directives issued to coordinate more closely with the District Education Officer to facilitate school health screenings.

Regarding disease prevention and mortality, clinical audits were presented on child fatalities related to congenital heart disease and septicaemia. For HIV/AIDS awareness, Project DISHA has identified 21 villages and 70 schools for outreach under the Intensified IEC Campaign 2026. Meanwhile, the TB Mukt Bharat Committee reviewed elimination efforts, noting that Block Development Officers have been designated to facilitate TB-related activities within their respective blocks.
