Kohima Science College and Pfutsero Government College sign academic MoU

Kohima Science College (Autonomous) and Pfutsero Government College have entered into a five-year partnership to promote academic cooperation, research, innovation, and community outreach. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Dr. Temjenwabang, Principal of Kohima Science College, and Dr. Anungla Pongener, Principal of Pfutsero Government College.

The collaboration focuses on several interdisciplinary areas, including apiculture, floriculture, computer applications, English and communication studies, and Traditional Knowledge Systems (TKS). A primary objective is the documentation, preservation, and digitization of indigenous knowledge, such as traditional agricultural practices, medicinal plant knowledge, folklore, and oral history. The institutions aim to develop digital archives and local knowledge databases to bridge scientific research with indigenous ecological knowledge.

Students and faculty will benefit from mutual access to laboratories, libraries, ICT facilities, and other academic resources. The partnership also includes provisions for joint research projects, internships, field visits, certificate courses, and faculty exchanges. Additionally, the colleges intend to support local livelihoods through initiatives involving biodiversity conservation, sustainable floriculture, and entrepreneurship.
