KOICA launches new volunteer assignment in Nepal

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has launched a new Korea Overseas Volunteer (KOV) assignment at Kirtipur Secondary School in Kathmandu. During a handover ceremony in Lalitpur, KOICA introduced Eunsil Park, who will serve as an Early Childhood Development (ECD) volunteer for one year starting August 17.

Park completed a four-week adaptation training program following her arrival in Nepal on July 14. Mooheon Kong, the country director of the KOICA Nepal Office, noted that the assignment aims to foster sustainable collaboration and transfer Korean expertise at the grassroots level.

Since 1990, KOICA has dispatched 500 volunteers to various government organizations across Nepal, contributing to sectors such as education, health, agriculture, and information technology. Currently, nine volunteers are serving in several districts, including Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Ilam, Kailali, Kaski, Baglung, and Rupandehi.
