Košice Archdiocese marks religious milestones and chapel blessing
The Košice Archdiocese recently marked two significant religious events. In the parish of Víťaz, a new chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary, Queen of Heaven, was blessed near the Church of St. Joseph the Worker. The chapel was donated by Professor Andrej Jenča, a native of Víťaz, as a spiritual tribute and a place for prayer and reflection. The blessing ceremony was led by Archbishop Bernard Bober and attended by guests including former Slovak President Rudolf Schuster.
Additionally, the Archdiocese commemorated the 350th anniversary of the arrival of the Ursuline Sisters in Slovakia. A thanksgiving Mass was held at the Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Košice, celebrated by Archbishop Bober. During the service, the Archbishop highlighted the historical contributions of the Ursulines, particularly their role in women's education and the revolutionary ideas of their founder, Angela Merici, regarding the equality of women in society and the Church.
