Košice Aviation Museum opens White Albatrosses exhibition

The Aviation Museum in Košice has opened a new interactive exhibition titled ‘White Albatrosses – A Story of Courage and Friendship’ to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the legendary military aerobatic group. The group, which operated from 1991 to 2004, is deeply connected to the history of the Košice region.

The exhibition features authentic aircraft, including two Aero L-39 Albatros jet planes. Visitors can view a rare prototype with hull number 0001 and another aircraft featuring the group’s distinctive colors. To enhance the experience, the museum has incorporated multimedia elements, virtual reality, and a simulated L-39 takeoff with light and sound effects.

The project was supported by the Košice Self-Governing Region and Košice Region Tourism through the Terra Incognita program with a contribution of 50,000 euros. The exhibition aims to present the technical heritage and personal stories of the pilots and technicians who served in the group.
