Košice children's railway takes ownership of Drezina rail vehicle

The small personal motor rail vehicle known as Drezina was transferred to the ownership of the Košice Children's Railway after a lease period that began in 2021. The handover was confirmed by representatives of the regional tourism organization Visit Košice and the railway’s director Ľubomír Lehotský.

Funding for the vehicle, which cost €34,880 (excluding VAT), was split equally between Visit Košice and the non‑profit Children’s Railway association. Designed by Ing. Josef Němeček of Zlín and built by MTH Remont in Vranov nad Topľou, Drezina can carry up to 11 passengers and is powered by a Honda GX 390 engine. Marcel Gibóda, deputy mayor of Košice and chairman of Visit Košice, said the transfer “is the logical outcome of a long‑term effort to support local tourist uniques.” The railway director added that Drezina “has already proved to be a flexible means to satisfy tourist interest.” The vehicle will continue to operate as a tourist attraction on the historic children’s railway in Košice.
